Privacy Policy — Rakjai

Last updated: October 21, 2026

This page explains what data Rakjai handles, where it is stored, who else is involved, and what you can do about it. It covers both the Rakjai mobile app and this website, rakjai.com.

1. Who we are

Rakjai is published and operated by DAKIBEN (“we”, “us”), established in Colombia, registered address Barranquilla, Colombia.

For the processing described here, DAKIBEN acts as the data controller. We handle your data under Colombia’s Law 1581 of 2012 and Decree 1377 of 2013, and in a way compatible with the EU GDPR for users located in that territory.

Any question about this policy: support@rakjai.com.

2. The short version

Rakjai needs an account, so we do hold some data about you: your profile, your lists and your activity in the App. We do not sell your personal data, we do not run third-party advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Payment details never reach us — Apple and Google handle all billing.

3. Data you give us

  • Username
  • Email address
  • Country of residence
  • Date of birth
  • Password — stored only as a secure hash, never in plain text
  • Profile photo (optional), stored on Cloudflare R2 + Cloudflare Images

If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your account identifier, name and associated email from them, according to the permissions you authorise on each platform. We never receive or store your Apple or Google password.

4. Data created by using the App

  • Your lists of watched titles and your watchlist
  • Interactions with recommendations: likes, favourited titles, in-app browsing history
  • Genre preferences (BL, GL and Mix Love) and the series you actively follow
  • Posts you share inside the App
  • Subscription status — active plan and renewal date, never card numbers or full financial data
  • Email interactions (opens and clicks), through our email provider Resend
  • Profile and social data: your username, profile photo and bio, the lists you mark as public, the comments and reactions you post on series and episodes, the accounts you follow and the accounts that follow you.

5. Public profile and visibility

Your Rakjai profile is public. Other Rakjai users can see your username, profile photo, bio, follower and following counts, the lists you mark as public, and the comments and reactions you post. Lists you mark as private are visible only to you, and you can change a list’s visibility at any time. When another user follows you, we notify you. You can delete your comments, or your account, at any time.

6. Technical data

  • IP address, device type, operating system and installation identifier
  • Network and CDN data through Cloudflare, for content and image delivery and for fraud and attack mitigation
  • Push-notification tokens, used for episode reminders
  • Error and performance logs

7. This website

Rakjai.com is an informational site. It does not require an account and does not host your library.

Our web infrastructure and CDN (Cloudflare) may set technical cookies or equivalent identifiers for load balancing, security and fraud prevention. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking on the Site.

Our website stores your language preference in your browser’s local storage so the site opens in your language. It is not used for tracking or advertising.

8. Why we process your data

  1. To create, authenticate and manage your account.
  2. To deliver the App’s core features: lists, recommendations, release sections and BL/GL title information.
  3. To send push reminders about episodes and series you follow.
  4. To send operational emails: account verification by one-time passcode (OTP) and password recovery.
  5. To send informational emails about new features or changes to the App.
  6. To send new-release emails to Premium users and promotional emails to free users — optional, with opt-out.
  7. To manage your Premium membership through the App Store or Google Play.
  8. To detect fraud, abuse or misuse, and to keep our infrastructure secure.
  9. To analyse aggregated, anonymised usage in order to improve the product.
  10. To comply with legal obligations and respond to competent authorities.

9. Legal bases

We rely on: (i) performance of the contract you enter into when you register and accept our Terms of Use (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR); (ii) your free, prior, express and informed consent, in particular for promotional communications and push notifications (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give by ticking the corresponding box at registration and may withdraw at any time without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal; and (iii) compliance with our legal obligations.

10. Who we share data with

We share only what each provider strictly needs to render its service, under confidentiality and data-processing agreements where applicable.

Provider Purpose Data involved
MongoDB Atlas Primary application database Profile, list and activity data
Cloudflare (R2 + Images, CDN) Profile-image storage and optimisation; content delivery and protection Profile photo, IP address, request metadata
Resend Transactional and marketing email (OTP, password recovery, news) Email address, username, subscription status
The Movie Database (TMDB) Source of editorial catalogue data, under commercial licence No personal data is sent; one-way content source
Apple (Sign in with Apple / App Store) Federated sign-in and subscription billing Account identifier, email if authorised, billing data handled by Apple
Google (Google Sign-In / Google Play) Federated sign-in and subscription billing Account identifier, email if authorised, billing data handled by Google

We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

11. International transfers

Several of these providers process data on servers outside Colombia. Where that happens, transfers are made with the safeguards required by Colombian data-protection law, including contractual clauses with each provider and, where applicable, recognised mechanisms such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

12. Retention

We keep your personal data while your account is active, plus the additional time needed to meet legal, accounting or tax obligations, or to resolve disputes.

When you delete your account, your profile data and content are deleted or anonymised within a reasonable period (up to 30 days), unless the law requires us to keep specific records longer — for example, billing records tied to Apple or Google.

13. Your rights

As a data subject under Law 1581 of 2012, you have the right to:

  • know, update and correct your personal data;
  • request proof of the authorisation you granted;
  • be informed about how your data has been used;
  • revoke your authorisation and request deletion of your data where legal principles and guarantees are not respected;
  • access free of charge the personal data we process about you;
  • file a complaint with Colombia’s Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC).

If you are in the European Union, you also have the rights to portability and to object to processing under the GDPR, and you may lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

Most of this you can do yourself: edit your username, email, country, date of birth, password and photo from your profile in the App, and delete your account from the same section. For anything else, write to support@rakjai.com. We respond within the legal deadlines — 10 business days for enquiries and 15 business days for claims, extendable as Colombian law permits.

14. Age limit

Rakjai is intended exclusively for people aged 18 or over, and we do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we learn that a minor created an account by providing a false date of birth, we will delete the account and its associated data.

15. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures: password hashing with secure algorithms, encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) between the App and our servers, access controls over our infrastructure, and perimeter protection through Cloudflare.

No system is infallible. If a security incident affects your personal data, we will notify you as required by applicable law. To report suspicious activity on your account, write to support@rakjai.com.

16. Marketing emails

New-release emails for Premium users and promotional emails for free users are optional. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in each email, or from the notification settings in your profile, without affecting the essential operational emails tied to your account (OTP and password recovery).

17. Social media

Rakjai has an official presence on X (Twitter) and TikTok. What happens on those platforms is governed by their own privacy policies; we do not control the processing they carry out outside the App.

18. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service changes. Material changes will be announced by email or in-app notice at least 15 days before they take effect, and the date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
